Debris on Wheels (Cleaning the Wheels)
If you find that the wheels on your Chameleon are not freely spinning, it may be due to debris trapped around the front wheels. This may cause difficulty driving or turning the Chameleon.
The front wheels can be removed to clean any debris and return the wheel to good working order. Ask an adult to help with the following steps!
Steps to follow:
- First, pull the front wheel directly away from the Chameleon until the wheel separates from the axle, while supporting the steering linkage with your opposing hand. It may take a bit of force - be careful not to bend the axle.
- Second, with the wheel removed, clear any debris wrapped around the axle pin.
- Finally, reattach the wheels. We recommend using a light tool such as a pen, pencil, small screwdriver or pair of tweezers to assist by inserting the tool behind the axle pin. While holding the axle pin in place, gently push the wheel back onto the axle, and be careful not to over-tighten it.
Now, check that the wheel is able to move freely. If it does not, you may have tightened it too much and will need to gently pull on the wheel to loosen it.
